Live on Radio Dispositiv: A conversation on shaping technology in alignment with human values.
Shaping technologies according to human values and needs instead of allowing technology to shape people. Building on this basic idea, more than 30 scientists formulated the Vienna Manifesto for Digital Humanism in 2019. Since then, a lot has happened, and the Digital Humanism Initiative has developed into a global network that not only engages in a lively exchange between academia, business and other scenes, but also continuously reaches out to a broad public with events and publications. With a growing response.
No wonder, because in view of the social upheavals that have already occurred, the central demand that the development and use of technical possibilities should no longer be determined by predominantly economically driven interests is being heard by more and more people. In addition to the apparent omnipotence of large IT companies, the advance of so-called artificial intelligence into all areas of life is increasingly perceived as a threat, and not without good reason, and its regulation is recognized as an unavoidable necessity.
From May 26 to 28, the Digital Humanism Conference 2025 will take place in Vienna’s Museumsquartier with international participation. Anita Eichinger (Director of the Vienna Library in City Hall and co-founder of the Center for AI and ML at TU Wien) and Stefan Woltran (Professor of Fundamentals of AI at TU Wien and Head of the Databases and AI research group) will be providing information live in the studio about the current topic situation in general, as well as specific points of the enormously diverse event program.
