Located within Vienna’s vibrant MuseumsQuartier (MQ), the Architekturzentrum Wien is part of one of the world’s largest cultural hubs. Spanning approximately 90,000 square meters, the MQ brings together around 60 institutions dedicated to a broad spectrum of contemporary culture—including visual arts, architecture, music, fashion, performance, literature, and interactive media.
The MuseumsQuartier is housed in a complex that blends historic and modern architecture. Originally constructed in the early 18th century as the imperial stables for the nearby Hofburg Palace, the baroque buildings have been thoughtfully complemented by contemporary additions. This architectural fusion has become a hallmark of the site’s unique atmosphere.
The entire MQ area is freely accessible and open 24 hours a day. Visitors are welcome to linger on the iconic MQ seating scattered throughout the courtyards, or enjoy the diverse food and drink offerings at the numerous cafés and restaurants on site.
