Atakan Aral is an Assistant Professor of Distributed Systems at the Department of Computing Science, Umeå University, Sweden, and a Principal Investigator at the Faculty of Computer Science, University of Vienna, Austria. His research interests center around resource and reliability management for Edge Computing, Edge AI, and the Internet of Things. He was the international coordinator of the recently completed EU project SWAIN (https://swain-project.eu/), focusing on AI-driven and sustainable environmental monitoring in watersheds.
