We would like to invite you to the kick-off event of the WWTF-funded DIGILINGDIV project, organized by TU Wien and University of Vienna. The event will include a concise overview highlighting the significance of exploring the relationship between digitization and linguistic diversity. The presentation will address the relevance of this investigation and outline the intended research approach. Additionally, a panel discussion will delve deeper into the subject, offering diverse perspectives and insights on the matter.

Programme

  • Welcome addresses by Michael Stampfer (Managing director of WWTF) and Allan Hanbury (Vice Dean, Faculty of Informatics, TU Wien)
  • Introduction to DIGILINGDIV by the project PIs, Andreas Baumann, Hannes Fellner & Julia Neidhardt

Panel Discussion

  • Martin Fritz (Secretary General of the Austrian Commission for UNESCO)
  • Alíz Horváth (Assistant professor of East Asian History and Digital Humanities, Central European University, and Head of the DARIAH Multilingual DH Working Group)
  • Barbara Soukup (Assistant professor of the Sociolinguistics of German in Austria, Department of German Studies, University of Vienna)
  • Hannes Werthner (Professor of Informatics, TU Wien, and co-initiator of the Digital Humanism Initiative)
