2. Upload a letter of motivation and a concise CV, both in English and in PDF format, with a maximum length of 2 pages. Additionally, complete the submission form by providing a short abstract within a limit of 2000 characters. Ensure that the abstract includes your name, current educational institution, academic background, and a succinct summary of your main motivations for participating in the program.
3. Submit your application through the portal.
You will receive a notification regarding the status of your application no later than 4th of May for Full Scholarship application or 4th of June for Registration Fee Waiver or regular application. If your application is accepted, you will be provided with instructions on how to make the payment for the registration fee of € 480. This fee covers a five-day program, including courses, coffee breaks, lunches for all five days, and social events on two evenings. Furthermore, ACM will provide free 1-year memberships for the students attending the school.
Scholarships: A limited number of scholarships will be available, based on both merits and financial need. Two types of scholarships will be offered:
- 5 Registration Fee Waivers: This scholarship is open to all applicants and covers the registration fee, meaning you will not be required to make the payment.
- 3 Full Scholarships: These scholarships include travel support and support for accommodation, with a maximum value of € 1500, as well as a waiver of the registration fee. Only students enrolled at universities in countries of the Global South are eligible for these full scholarships. Travel support will be reimbursed, and if you are granted funding, you will need to register for the school, book and pay for your travel, and submit the receipts for reimbursement. You will not have to pay the registration fee.
If you wish to apply for a registration fee waiver or a full scholarship, please include a recommendation letter from a professor at your university/institution, along with an additional statement in your application (both in English and in PDF format, with a maximum length of 1 page each). In the statement, explain why you require financial assistance or travel support, and also indicate if you would be able to attend the summer school without the provided support.
Visa invitation letters: Visa invitation letters can be requested when registering. We will support your visa application as much as we can, given the current geopolitical situation for some countries entering to Austria got unfortunately more complicated. Therefore we recommend 8 weeks for the process (starting with you requesting a visa appointment at your local embassy / consulate).
ECTS Credits: Upon successful completion of the summer school, participants will be awarded either two ECTS credit points if they actively engage in all lectures, practical components, and the group project, or three ECTS credit points if they additionally submit a final paper.
